Musicians are mystical creatures who, creating and performing musical compositions, rise several centimeters above the ground.
The solo concert of LISZTOMANIA will allow you to enjoy the brightest musical compositions of the representative of romanticism Franz Liszt performed by the modern virtual pianist Vestards Šimkus.
This year, the world celebrates the 210th anniversary of the legendary Hungarian composer and pianist of the 19th century romanticism, Franz Liszt.
Liszt is the main source of inspiration for many pianists - including Vestards Šimkus.
V. Šimkus first heard his musical compositions when he was eight years old, and thanks to them he fell in love with classical music so much.
The wall in Vestards' room was full of Liszt’s photographs - he was a real rock star of classical music in his childhood and teenage years.
The pianist repeatedly tried to imagine what the listeners felt and experienced during Liszt's recital in Riga in 1842, when in the first part of the concert the piano was destroyed during his stormy playing, and was replaced by another, but in the second part of the concert the similar fate awaited the instrument.
V. Šimkus compiled an absolutely new program of Liszt's piano music for the solo concert "LISZTOMANIA", in which two directions - the divine and the world - will collide.
An impressively meditative composition "Benediction Of God In Solitude" and epic large-scale version of the composition "Vexilla regis prodeunt" will sound. Magical romantic "Berceuse", a devilishly crazy Second Mephisto Waltz and a Motifs from Beethoven's "Ruins of Athens", which in a particularly effective way are encouraging to critically reflect on the "destruction" of the cultural heritage of Western civilization, so widespread in our time. Do not forget that this civilization is that one which allowed such outstanding personalities as Franz Liszt to appear once.

Vexilla regis prodeunt, S. 185 (1864)
