Starting 11 August 2020, House of the Black Heads will be open to visitors six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday. As before, guided tours will be available every working day.
We invite you to leave your home and spend amazing time in the House of the Black Heads, getting acquainted with the legends about the Brotherhood of Blackheads and the history of Riga.
In August, the last month of summer, you can still enjoy the luxury of the House of the Black Heads in a leisurely atmosphere with friends, colleagues or family. Guests of all ages and interests will find something interesting and exciting in this beautiful place. The youngest visitors can experience the aura of 14th century history in the historic basements and see how the Blackheads lived. In turn, lovers of historical and artistic treasures will be able to view the special silver collection of the House of the Black Heads and enjoy the most colourful part of the House - the luxurious Festive Hall and Lubeck Hall, as well as the Chippendale-style Salon and the Blue Guard Hall, open to visitors earlier this year.
It should be noted that the silver fruit vase on display in the Festive Hall is an exact copy of the original work. In honour of the significant anniversary of the Riga House the of Black Heads, the Bremen Brotherhood of Blackheads has added this outstanding piece of art to the Riga exposition; it will be available until 30 September 2020. The newly created dish features the coats of arms of the cities of Riga and Bremen, as well as the old and new coats of arms of the Blackheads, symbolising the close cooperation between the two cities and the Brotherhood of Blackheads. At the top of the vase there is a stylised boat with the god of the seas, Neptune, the patron of the Blackheads since ancient times.
We also invite foreign guests to the House of the Black Heads and offer excursions in Latvian, Russian and English.
This season, the House of the Black Heads will also host great music concerts. Already on Friday, charming French soprano Perrine Madeouf and sonorous Latvian baritone Jānis Apeinis will perform at the Festival Hall of the House of Blackheads as part of the KOPĀ (TOGETHER) concert cycle. On 18 September 2020, an unprecedented musical event will take place at the House of the Black Heads - an exclusive acoustic concert of cello trio “Melo-M Romance in the House of Blackheads”. Tickets for the concert can be purchased on the website www.bilesuserviss.lv and at the box office of the House of the Black Heads at: Rātslaukumā 77, Riga.
The key concern of the House of the Black Heads is the well-being and safety of its visitors, so everything is prepared for everyone to freely walk around the House. All visitors to the House of the Black Heads are asked to be socially responsible and follow house procedures.
